Description
White Chocolate Brigadeiros are a decadent Brazilian treat made from sweetened condensed milk and white chocolate, rolled into bite-sized balls and coated in white chocolate shavings or sprinkles. These indulgent sweets are a twist on the traditional chocolate brigadeiro, offering a creamy, melt-in-your-mouth texture that’s perfect for any celebration or as a delightful treat for yourself.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 8 oz white chocolate, chopped (or use white chocolate chips)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup white chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or desiccated coconut (for coating)
Instructions
- Melt the White Chocolate:
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the white chocolate with the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously to prevent the mixture from burning. Once the white chocolate has fully melted and the mixture is smooth, stir in the vanilla extract. - Cook the Mixture:
Continue cooking the mixture over low heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and starts to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 8-10 minutes. It should be thick enough to hold its shape when you spoon it. - Let it Cool:
Remove the pan from the heat and let the brigadeiro mixture cool for about 15 minutes. Allow it to cool slightly until it’s comfortable to handle. - Shape the Brigadeiros:
Once the mixture has cooled enough to handle, lightly butter your hands to prevent sticking. Take small spoonfuls of the mixture and roll them into balls, about the size of a walnut or a small marble (roughly 1 inch in diameter). - Coat the Brigadeiros:
Roll the brigadeiro balls in white chocolate shavings, sprinkles, or desiccated coconut to coat them evenly. - Chill and Serve:
Place the brigadeiros on a plate lined with parchment paper and refrigerate them for at least 30 minutes to firm up. Serve and enjoy these rich, creamy treats!
Notes
- Coating Options: You can also roll brigadeiros in crushed graham crackers, candy sprinkles, or even chopped nuts for different textures and flavors.
- Storage: Keep your white chocolate brigadeiros in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. They can also be frozen for longer storage; just ensure they’re wrapped tightly.
- Make it Festive: For special occasions, you can use colored sprinkles or edible glitter to give your brigadeiros a festive look.
