Description

Wichita Chicken Sliders are juicy, flavorful chicken sandwiches with a tangy twist. Perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, these sliders feature tender chicken paired with fresh toppings, all nestled between soft, buttery buns. Ideal for a fun dinner, party, or game day snack!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 8 slider buns (small sandwich rolls)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, sliced

  • 1/4 cup pickles, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium heat.
    • Rub the chicken breasts (or thighs) with olive oil and season with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook the Chicken:

    • Grill or pan-sear the chicken for 6-7 minutes per side (depending on thickness) until cooked through and juices run clear. The internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C). Remove from heat and let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing into strips or pieces.
  3. Prepare the Slider Buns:

    • While the chicken is resting, toast the slider buns lightly in the skillet or oven to add a little crispness and warmth.
  4. Assemble the Sliders:

    • Mix the ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing) with hot sauce in a small bowl to create a creamy, tangy sauce. Spread a generous amount of the sauce on the bottom halves of the slider buns.
    • Layer each bun with a few slices of the cooked chicken, a slice of cheese, shredded lettuce, a slice of tomato, and pickles (if using). Top with the other half of the bun.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve the sliders immediately while warm. Optionally, serve with extra dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Storage: Leftover sliders can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
  • Variation: You can substitute the ranch dressing with barbecue sauce or a spicy aioli for different flavors. Add sautéed onions or avocado slices for extra richness.

  • Tip: For a crispy chicken version, you can bread and fry the chicken breasts or thighs instead of grilling or pan-searing.
