- ⅓ cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- ½ cup reserved pasta cooking water (with an additional cup in case more is needed)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the salt and cook the squid ink spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente.
- Prepare the Garlic Oil Sauce:
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a large pan over low heat.
- Add the finely chopped garlic and cook gently for about 4 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Stir in the crushed red pepper flakes and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Create the Sauce Base:
- Before draining the pasta, remove ½ cup of the pasta cooking water and add it carefully to the garlic oil mixture in the pan. Let it simmer gently while the pasta finishes cooking.
- Combine Pasta with Sauce:
- Drain the cooked pasta, reserving another cup of the cooking water. Add the pasta to the garlic mixture and toss to coat evenly.
