Ingredients
Scale
For the Bread:
- 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (homestyle or buttermilk)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
For the Glaze:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar:
- In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
- Prepare the Biscuits:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- Open the can of refrigerated biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Cut each biscuit into 4 pieces (or quarters).
- In a large mixing bowl, pour the melted butter over the biscuit pieces. Toss the dough pieces to coat them evenly with butter.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the buttered biscuit pieces, tossing to coat evenly.
- Assemble the Pop Bread:
- Place the cinnamon-sugar-coated biscuit pieces in the prepared baking dish. Stack them randomly or in layers, ensuring an even distribution of the cinnamon mixture.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and puffed up.
- Make the Glaze:
- While the bread is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Adjust the amount of milk to reach your desired consistency for drizzling.
- Serve:
- Once the bread is baked, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Drizzle the glaze over the warm bread.
- Serve warm, pulling apart the delicious, gooey cinnamon layers!
Notes
- Biscuit Dough: You can use any type of biscuit dough, but homestyle or buttermilk biscuits will give you the best texture for this recipe.
- Cinnamon-Sugar: Feel free to add more cinnamon to the sugar mixture if you prefer a stronger cinnamon flavor.
- Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave for 10-15 seconds to enjoy the gooey cinnamon goodness again!
- Make-Ahead: If you’re short on time, you can assemble the bread the night before, cover it, and refrigerate it overnight. Bake in the morning for a fresh, warm treat!
